Garfield Park
Opened in 1873, Garfield Park is the oldest park in Indianapolis and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. With easy access to the IndyGo Red Line and Pleasant Run Trail., the park is best known for the conservatory and sunken gardens, the multi-level pagoda, and historic bridges.

Garfield Park Arts Center
The Garfield Park Arts Center is a unique venue within Indy Parks & Recreation. Originally utilized as an open-air shelter and pool house, the center was renovated to include an art gallery, performing spaces, classrooms, and a literary arts library. Rentals spaces are available for parties, wedding receptions, and meetings.

Garfield Park Conservatory
Garfield Park Conservatory is home to hundreds of different plants from the world's tropics. The conservatory is 10,000 square feet. Even on the coldest winter days, you can warm up in the conservatory and see what's blooming! The space also has various educational displays and many special events throughout the year.

Garfield Park Public Library
What was known as the Shelby Branch began in 1918 when the library was housed in old School No. 34. A new branch was constructed in 1965 at the current Shelby Street location. Following a major renovation, the branch reopened in 2011 as the Garfield Park Branch, reflecting the desire of residents to refer to the branch by their beloved and adjacent Garfield Park.

Burrello Family Center
The Burrello Family Center and Aquatic Center opened in 1998, replacing the old pool and basketball court in the community center. It was named in honor of longtime park manager and dedicated Indy Parks employee Lynda Burrello.

IndyGo Red Line
The Red Line runs through our neighborhood with along Shelby Street, with one stop at Raymond Street, and the other stop called Garfield Park at the southeast corner of the park at Southern Avenue.

Pleasant Run Trail
Pleasant Run Trail is a 6.9 mile long trail that follows Pleasant Run from Ellenberger Park to Garfield Park. The trail also goes through Christian Park, as well as passes Kin Hubbard Memorial, Thomas Carr Howe High School, Harlan Triangle Greenspace, Orange Park, and the conservatory at Garfield Park. Trail users can get on the Red Line at the Garfield Park station along Shelby Street.

MacAllister Amphitheater
The amphitheater was first opened in the early 1920’s as a theatre for repertory actors to present a new play each week. Families from all over sat outside and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the productions. The theater was renovated in 1997 and given a new name to honor P.E. MacAllister, a generous benefactor and longtime friend of the park.
